AIBC Welcomes Strengthened Economic Dialogue Between Armenian and Indian Business Communities

On June 8 2024, Mr Karen Mkrtchyan, Executive Director of the Armenia-India Business Council (AIBC) had the pleasure of attending a high-level business meeting held in Yerevan between a delegation of Indian entrepreneurs from the Indian Chamber of Commerce and representatives of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia (UIEA). The purpose of the meeting was to further enhance bilateral economic cooperation and explore new avenues for partnership.

Representing the Armenian side, UIEA’s First Vice President, Mr. Nerses Karamanukyan, provided a comprehensive overview of Armenia’s business environment and investment landscape. Key sectors highlighted for collaboration included tourism, healthcare, textiles, and the food industry. Mr. Karamanukyan also underlined the relevance of Indian innovations—such as advanced water filtration technologies—which could help solve pressing infrastructure challenges in Armenia.

Leading the Indian delegation, Mr. Shivkumar Eswaran, Head of the Tamil Nadu branch of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Honorary Consul of Armenia in several Indian regions, emphasized the Chamber’s century-long legacy and its vital role in Indian trade. He called for the creation of an integrated information platform and more regular business forums, trade exhibitions, and meetings to deepen economic ties.

“Mutual recognition paves the way for business. This is an initial step. We are ready to implement joint programs,” Mr. Eswaran affirmed.

The event concluded with direct B2B negotiations between Armenian and Indian entrepreneurs and the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between UIEA and the Indian Chamber of Commerce (Tamil Nadu), formalizing their commitment to joint initiatives.

The Armenia-India Business Council commends both sides for this initiative and thanks the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Armenia for inviting us to participate in such a meaningful dialogue. AIBC remains committed to supporting bilateral engagements that unlock opportunities across both nations.
